21st July 2008 Windsurfing: Essaouira Wind Direction: NW Wind Stength: not a lot Surf / Sea State: 1-2ft Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered: Last day in Essaouira and the wind died again. Had to go down to the centre to book out so went out for some light wind freestyle on a 140 litre board and 5.7m. Bit of wind to start but then died off completely. So, what can I say, this is the perfect place for me. It's really windy, we were unlucky to get some windless days. The culture is fantastic, the medina, port, souks. Staying in a riad is an experience and the people are so friendly. You can find that you have to barter for almost everything, "ah, I give you very good price, my friend". And there are a crew of Essaouira pikeys, loads of kiters, windsurfers and small waves. What's not to like! But I recommend that you don't visit, cause I don't want it to be too busy when I return ;-) |
